| Description: | Established in 2000, we can still remember when websites were built using images in HTML tables, yes that was “best practice” back then! Today, we’re still just as passionate about the web and its potential but our tech stack and best practices have greatly changed! We’re an agency that builds websites and web applications, and we’re now over 6-years into our journey with Laravel. From a stock system used by the NHS, and a Chrome Extension for Branston Pickle to visualizing $13B in research grant funding for Oxford University our work is varied and challenging in equal measure. We’re seeking a Lead Laravel/PHP Developer with 4+ years of solid Laravel experience to steer our growing team of passionate programmers. This is a unique opportunity as the role has the potential for career progression to a brand new position of Technical Director with responsibility for overseeing and steering the technical direction of the agency as a whole. What the job involves - Developing and maintaining web applications using the Laravel Framework - Contributing to project planning, scoping, specifications and estimates - Handling or delegating client support requests as appropriate - Delivering on multiple, concurrent projects - Mentoring and managing two junior/mid-level developers You have - Excellent knowledge of the Laravel framework and ecosystem - Experience writing DRY, well-structured, clean, and elegant code - Strong JavaScript skills and experience with frameworks - Excellent knowledge of MySQL database design and development - Familiarity with Linux shell - Excellent attention to detail and a thorough approach to testing - Ability to thrive in a sometimes fast-paced agency environment with demanding clients - Ability to work efficiently by prioritizing what's important without cutting corners - Superb written and verbal communication skills, confident speaking with clients and stakeholders - Familiarity with Git - Familiarity with Mac OS - Enthusiasm to work in a small and relatively flat team and make a difference - Not essential but it would be good if you have experience with - Next.js and React - Vue.js - Laravel Livewire - Filament - Tailwind CSS - Alpine.js - TDD practices (Pest PHP) - Craft CMS - Cloud infrastructure (such as AWS) - Project management and leadership experience We have - Remote working - Flexibility in terms of when and where you work - 24 days holiday plus... - Bank holidays - Your birthday off - A half day for Christmas shopping - 33.5 days in total - Opportunity to progress into a Director-level role - Interesting and varied projects to get your teeth into - An environment that encourages autonomy but provides support and guidance when you need it - All the equipment you need (MacBook Pro and accessories) - An active interest in helping you to upskill and grow through monthly training time - A focus on you as a person, a happy team is a productive team - Company pension - Free eye test vouchers - Modern, air-conditioned office in Chelmsford City center Christmas and summer parties - Paid for outings to industry events/conferences (we attend Laravel Live UK every year) - 37.5 hour working week How to Apply Candidates should apply via email. |
