Looks like a nice way to add strict typing to PHP. For backwards compatibility, I would've thought there should be some way to generate PHP code from the hack code. I would rather that than adding comments around all hack specific terms.

Right, that could be an idea too if you do not mind wait the conversion time.

Using comments would be more for existing libraries for which you would not like to lose the version control history of the file.
